ALBUM REVIEW: 4 CORNERS OF PROSPECTIVE: LKC & #KCRYDERS REVIEW - NIGHT & DAY PT.1

To start off 2012 with a bang, we at LKC decided to give you something a little different. There is so much that makes up each and every #KCRyder wherever you're from. But what we all have in common is our love for Keshia Chante and her incredible music that brings us together! That being said, we couldn't exactly do this with just one of us issuing out a review! It was brought to my attention that a way to make this more interesting and engaging would be to have it come from different views and aspects.

You'll get to read exactly what some #KCRyders think, as well as what we here LKC think about Ms. KC's new album from top to bottom and no stone is left unturned. This idea and concept is brought to you by our lovely and amazingly talented LKC Team Member - Cat! ( Follow her on twitter @catlilangel)

The reviews will be broken up into individual posts for easier reading instead of crammed into one. We'll have additional reviews, and when posted we'll announce them on twitter (@luvkcfansite) and facebook (Luv-KChanteMain) so keep checking back. Our first album review after the cut is courtesy of Cat. Enjoy!

LKC & #KCRYDERS REVIEW - NIGHT & DAY PT.1

Rewind to 1986. After  a 4 year hiatus spent catching up on lost teenage years, going through love stories and heartbreaks, a young woman in her early twenties released her long awaited               third album. An album that represented her coming of age, her break from a tight knit family and a grip of her own life choices. “It’s all about control, and I’ve got lots of it.” –Janet Jackson has (then unknowingly) inspired many strong young women through the years…

Fastforward 25 years to 2011. After a 5 year hiatus spent catching up on lost teenage years, going through love stories and heartbreaks, a young woman in her early twenties released her long awaited third album. An album that represents her coming of age, her break from negative energy and people with intentions that are no longer her own, Keshia Chanté has taken control of her life personally and professionally. The result: Night & Day.

Night & Day takes the listener from party mode to the bedroom and back. Catchy club beats (Hotline, Table Dancer, Set U Free) , 80’s style pop tracks (Edit Cut & Delete U) , girl anthem (Victorious), ultimate power ballads that will be on repeat in every girl’s iPod & whose lyrics will adorn notebooks and BBM statuses alike (Hush, I Miss U, If U say, I Hope U Cry) for a long time to come. The track listing flows like an open book: Keshia’s open book. You feel the space that was once dark, and the strength that brought happiness and balance back in her life.

What the album lacks in terms of instrumentation (unfortunately common in today’s productions) has definitely been made up for in the media tour that followed the album release: performances with full live band. If anyone ever had any doubts on Keshia Chanté’s vocal abilities, please check out the following
(insert If U Say youtube clip from Uni-Community or Canada AM) and Edit Cut & Delete U from Marylin Denis)

and dare tell me the growth and maturity as an artist isn’t there ;) I’d say definitely give me more of this, and less of that (points to prefab artists whose performances are inspired by Milli Vanilli (umm lipsync)).
Keshia’s ascent on the charts is paced but in the meantime, no stone is being left unturned. Her presence is constant and the message is clear: KC is “no longer afraid , the world is for the taking”. She’s “unbreakable, invincible”. You ready?

CatLilAngel’s N&D fun facts:

Cat’s fave from N&D : If U Say

Cat’s guilty pleasure from N&D: Edit, Cut & Delete U

Cat would have passed on : Shooting Star

Cat’s pick for  winning production team on N&D: KC & VicPark---such a strong complicity!

Cat’s final comments & peeve: Absolutely love the album booklet art & photos. Should have come with a bonus lyrics booklet.

**You can ring the New Year in with Keshia Chanté and her band as they perform live from Niagara Falls for ET Canada’s NYE party on Global TV. Check your local listings.**
